National Motoring Heritage Day on March 18
For the general public, the third Sunday in May ( May 18) is a day to see many old and historic vehicles travelling the highways and byways on Australian Roads.
‘This annual event is promoted Australia wide by the Australian Historic Motoring Federation, (AHMF) through its constituent members - the state and territory councils and aims to raise awareness of clubs, the cars and their purpose in the general community,’ Council of ACT Motor Clubs president Mark Saunders said.
‘This is the opportunity for car club members to show the community, governments, and business the strength of the Australian historic motoring movement.’
Mr Saunders said he 2014 National Motoring Heritage Day was now in its 10th year and will involve up to 200 000 vehicles and their owners from 600 AHMF affiliated clubs driving around their local area with vehicles headlights on.
‘In Canberra the Council of ACT Motor Clubs, the peak body for more than 60 car clubs in Canberra and region, expect to have a big turn-out of vehicles to show the flag and demonstrate the strength of the motoring enthusiasts’ movement in the national capital,’ Mr Saunders said.
